Abstract
Based on its trans-temporal and trans-spatial dimensions, the Holy Quran has used various methods to express its goals and objectives. The style of the revelation of the Quran in an figurative method and the mission of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) based on their allusion (taʿrīḍ) and harmony with each other, while paying attention to the hadith of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) who considered the revelation of the Quran in the style of “You do I tell you and O my neighbor, listen to me” (إِیَّاکِ أَعْنِی وَ اسْمَعِی یَا جَارَة), indicates that this style of revelation has pursued the goals that the present study seeks to achieve. This article uses the method of describing and analyzing the discussed narrations and related Quranic evidence, and using narrative and interpretive sources of library documents, has reached the following conclusions: The revelation of the Quran based on “You do I tell you (Iyāk Aʾa ni) and O my neighbor, listen to me” is not only in the verses of the Prophet's (PBUH) rebuke, and not only as a literary and rhetorical principle, but also, at a higher level, it is considered as an interpretive principle for a better and deeper understanding of all the verses of the Holy Quran. Another result is that the alignment of the Prophet's (PBUH) mission based on allusion (taʿrīḍ) and the style of revelation of the Quran based on figurativeness indicates that, considering the sensitivities existing on the part of the enemies at the time of the Prophet (PBUH), and God's guarantee regarding the protection of the Holy Quran, both methods pursued the same and, of course, fundamental goals, which can be referred to as the Prophet's (PBUH) governmental plan to preserve Islam, test the nation, rationalism, explain the true position and status of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and introduce it to future generations, and preserve and protect the Holy Quran from distortion by enemies.
