Abstract
Since ancient times, efforts have been made to comprehend Hadith, in addition to the compilations of the monographs of the Shia Imams (AS) and Muslim scholars after them. These efforts can be categorized into two main areas: Firstly, the composition of scholarly commentaries based on the principles of fiqh al-hadith, which has a history of more than a millennium within the comprehensive sources of hadith. Secondly, the formulation of principles for the understanding of Hadith, referred to as "fiqh al-hadith," which has been limited to the past century. Simultaneously, scattered attempts have been made as "logic," and more specifically, the comprehension of "Quran and Hadith texts" in the field of "Usul al-Fiqh" (Principles of jurisprudence), which can be reevaluated for its application in "fiqh al-hadith" studies. This article, utilizing a descriptive-analytical method, aims to identify such teachings within foundational works, especially in the books of Allama Hilli. It explores his views on the reliable sources, such as the Quran, definite traditions, consensus, and intellect, as well as elements like permissibility, issuance, and transfer of meanings, It also addresses matters of alterations, taqiyya (precautionary dissimulation), and contradictions, regarding them as incidental aspects affecting the credibility of the indications of Hadith.
